Message higher-flowing fan units.

Here's what I have come to the conclusion on with the current fan.

It pulls ~12A and by Zirgo, it is rated at 3985CFM.

I have a Maradyne fan, which is rated at 2050CFM on my personal Z, which dropped coolant temps by about 8 degrees. It pulls 17A.

The new fan coming to me is rated at 2400CFM and pulls 22A.

I am under the beleief that the Zirgo fans have been overrated by the manufacturer given what I have seen in terms of coolant temps vs. current draw. We initially chose this fan based on the published airflow ratings

DAYTONAZ (Roland) has been instrumental in some of the recent testing we did last week with the OEM fan setup. He has installed an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge and in 94 to 100F ambient temperatures we have seen about a 10-15F difference between the Zirgo electric fan and the OEM fan in varying load/speed conditions.

The new fan coming to me I expect is going to flow even more than the Maradyne fan on my Z which only pulls 17A as this new fan is pulling 22A and is rated at ~400CFM higher than the Maradyne.

The bypass ducting is simply a flap-valve at each of the 4 corners of the shroud that are designed to open and allow air to flow through the radiator IF the ram air pressure exceeds that of the fan's draw. That modification was done just yesterday and unfortunately the florida weather today has not lent itself to making a good comparative test.

The aux fan's purpose is to aid the cooling system in times of extreme operating conditions. It wouldn't give conclusive information to try and compare the OEM fan/shroud without it running vs. the electric setup with it running - the idea is to seek an electric fan setup that will perform as well as the OEM with all other things being equal. If that is only achievable with the auxiliary fan running, it would still be a viable solution. We just dont know at this very moment if that will be necessary or not - just keeping that as another item to consider if need be.

Let me know what you would like to do though - I would be happy to send you one of these ducted shrouds and high-flowing fans. Thanks again for your input too; much appreciated.
